Credit: A Doll Like Me/Facebook

At a toy store, every child sees dolls in bright dresses, shiny shoes, and perfect faces. But for some children, especially those with disabilities or visible differences, there was always something missing: a toy that looked like them.

Then one woman decided to do something about it.

Her name is Amy, and she makes dolls that look exactly like the children who receive them.

Credit: A Doll Like Me/Facebook

Key Takeaways

A doll maker, moved by the sadness of children with disabilities feeling invisible, now creates custom dolls that look exactly like the child who receives them.

These dolls include real features like scars, missing limbs, medical devices, and other unique traits, something rarely seen in toys.

The project is completely free to families and supported by donations, spreading joy and affirmation to hundreds of children.

Social media responses reflect admiration for the project’s impact and calls for wider representation in toy design.

Not just hair color. Not just skin tone.

Every detail that makes a child unique.

Missing limbs?

Scar from surgery?

Wearing a brace, a hearing aid, or a wheelchair?

Amy hand-sews those details into every doll.

Credit: A Doll Like Me/Facebook

Because she once saw how children with disabilities felt invisible, not reflected in the world of toys, and she knew that needed to change.

So she left her previous work and poured her love, skill, and time into making dolls that tell each child clearly:

You are seen. You are perfect. And you are beautiful just as you are.

You wouldn’t think a toy could change a life.

But for children who rarely see themselves in books, media, or playthings, a custom doll can be transformative.

For some kids, it’s the first time they’ve ever held something that looks like them.

For others, it’s reassurance that they belong, not on the outside of the world, but squarely in it.

Credit: A Doll Like Me/Facebook

Parents have shared stories of tears, wide smiles, hugs that don’t let go. Teachers have said the dolls help children talk about their bodies and experiences in new ways. And families often describe these dolls as something that reaches parts of the heart that no medicine ever could.

One mom said that for the first time, her daughter didn’t feel like she needed to explain herself or apologize for her mobility device, because her doll already included it without hesitation.

Credit: A Doll Like Me/Facebook

That kind of acceptance isn’t just symbolic.

It’s emotional healing.

Amy doesn’t charge families a cent.

Every single doll is given free, supported by donations from people inspired by the project.

There’s no price tag.

No exclusivity.

Just care.

Because the goal isn’t revenue.

The goal is representation.

The project has reached hundreds of children so far, a figure that continues to grow as photos of laughing kids and cuddled dolls spread on social media, each one a quiet declaration that not being “typical” does not mean not being worthy.

Social reactions capture why this project resonates so deeply:

Charlie Snyder wrote:

“There should be a company of ragdolls representing children with disabilities.”

A simple idea, but one that many say could reshape how toys reflect the real world.

Marlasia Soto added:

“All the open possibilities with someone that has a disability…”

The comment reflects an understanding: representation expands imagination.

Across platforms, people praised the project not just for its craftsmanship, but for its heart, a term too often reserved for drama, but fully deserved here.

A toy can seem small.

But visibility is powerful.

Children learn who they are and how the world sees them through the things around them, books, shows, games, and yes, dolls.

When kids finally see themselves reflected in a toy, it isn’t just validation, it’s freedom.

Freedom from feeling “different.”

Freedom from hiding.

Freedom to play without apology.

And when children play with confidence, they learn to navigate the world with confidence, not as outsiders, but as participants.

That’s why Amy’s work is more than doll-making.

It’s love in tangible form.

Credit: unsplash

Key Takeaways

A man spent several months training crows using food rewards to associate red objects with a positive outcome, eventually leading them to remove red MAGA hats.

The experiment highlights the intelligence of crows, who are known for their memory, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to recognize patterns and faces.

The viral response sparked debates around ethics, symbolism, protest culture, and the boundaries between humor and responsibility.

The story centers on a man who spent months patiently training local crows to interact with red objects. Over time, those red objects became unmistakable symbols: red MAGA hats. The result? Videos showing crows swooping down, tugging at hats, and flying off with them, all in exchange for a food reward. The internet quickly took notice.

This wasn’t a random act of chaos. The man behind the experiment documented a long, careful process rooted in positive reinforcement. He began by feeding the crows consistently, earning their trust and encouraging them to return daily. Once the birds felt safe, he introduced red containers covering food, teaching them that moving or lifting red items led to a reward. Gradually, those containers evolved into hats, visually similar enough for the birds to apply what they had learned.

What makes the story resonate isn’t just the shock value. It’s the way it reflects modern life. Politics today often revolves around symbols, hats, slogans, and colors that carry emotional weight far beyond their physical form. By targeting a symbol rather than a person, the experiment landed somewhere between satire and social commentary, whether intentionally or not.

The crows, of course, have no political allegiance. They aren’t making statements or choosing sides. They’re responding to training, instinct, and reward. That contrast between human interpretation and animal logic is part of what makes the story so compelling. People see protest, mockery, or provocation. The birds see food.

Reactions online were swift and divided. Some viewers laughed, calling it one of the most absurd and creative moments they’d seen online in years. Others were uncomfortable, questioning whether it was appropriate to involve wild animals in human political expression at all. A quieter group saw it as a reminder of how powerful conditioning and symbolism can be, not just for animals, but for people too.

What’s undeniable is the patience behind the process. Training wild crows is not a quick task. It requires consistency, respect for the animals’ boundaries, and a deep understanding of how they learn. The fact that the experiment took months challenges the idea that it was done purely for viral attention. It suggests curiosity, experimentation, and a willingness to observe rather than force outcomes.

The story also raises bigger questions. Where do we draw the line between creative expression and ethical responsibility? Is humor harmless if it makes people uncomfortable? And how much meaning do we project onto objects and actions that, on their own, are neutral?

Credit: biz_dave/Threads

In many ways, the crow experiment acts as a mirror. It shows how quickly we assign intention, outrage, or praise based on our own beliefs. The same video can feel empowering to one person and deeply troubling to another. The crows haven’t changed. The hats haven’t changed. Only our interpretations have.

In a digital world crowded with outrage cycles and recycled headlines, this story stood out because it was unexpected. It didn’t tell people what to think. It simply presented something unusual and let the internet do what it does best: debate, joke, criticize, and reflect.

Sometimes the stories that linger aren’t the loudest or the most polished. They’re the ones that sit in an uncomfortable gray space, asking us to think a little deeper about symbolism, intention, and how easily meaning can be taught, transferred, or misunderstood.

When most people think of YouTube gamers, an 81-year-old grandma probably doesn’t come to mind.

But Sue Jacquot, a grandmother from Queen Creek, Arizona, is proving that courage, and love, knows no age.

Sue never grew up as a gamer. She didn’t plan to start a channel. But when her fun evenings playing Minecraft with her grandchildren turned into something much bigger, her world changed.

Key Takeaways

An 81-year-old grandma named Sue Jacquot streamed Minecraft to help pay for her grandson’s cancer treatment, and it worked.

Her YouTube channel GrammaCrackers quickly went viral and raised significant funds for her family.

Her grandson Jack, who underwent extensive treatment for sarcoma, is now cancer-free and doing well.

The story has inspired many online, showing how love, creativity, and gaming can bring hope during hard times.

Her grandson, 17-year-old Jack Self, was diagnosed in 2024 with an aggressive sarcoma, a type of cancer that requires intensive treatment. The costs were enormous and the strain was real. Sue wanted to help in any way she could.

She learned to play Minecraft from Jack and his brother in the summer of 2025. Then, in October, she made a bold decision. She launched her own YouTube channel called GrammaCrackers, and began streaming her gameplay with one goal: to support Jack’s battle with cancer.

Her first video, a simple introduction titled “The BEST START EVER,” caught the attention of viewers almost immediately. It wasn’t professionally made. It wasn’t high-budget. What it had was heart. Within days, the video had garnered hundreds of thousands of views, bringing not just smiles, but support.

Sue included a link in every video to Jack’s GoFundMe campaign, inviting viewers to contribute to his medical expenses. Donations began pouring in. Fans, fellow gamers, and strangers from around the world rallied behind her mission.

Before long, the channel had nearly 200,000 subscribers, and the funds raised made a real difference in the family’s life. Most importantly of all: Jack is now cancer-free and feeling great, according to recent reports.

Jack himself expressed his gratitude, saying seeing people from all over the world support both him and his grandmother was something “very sweet,” and that the kindness they experienced meant more than he could put into words.

For Sue, the journey began simply, playing a game with her grandchildren. But it became something much larger: a symbol of hope, creativity, and unwavering family love. She said she never expected to become a streamer. But when you’re helping someone you love, you figure things out as you go, no matter your age.

Her story has resonated far beyond her community. Many people online now see Sue as an inspiration: proof that it’s never too late to try something new, and that meaningful impact can come from the unlikeliest places.

And while Minecraft may be a game about building worlds block by block, Sue built something even more remarkable: a bridge of support, connection, and real-world love.

Credit: 3to1fitness/instagram

For many people, losing weight is a struggle. For Cole Prochaska, it became a life-changing journey.

Cole, a 40-year-old man from Saint Matthews, South Carolina, once weighed as much as 585 pounds, a number so high his scale couldn’t even register it.

He carried that weight for most of his life, battling overeating, sedentary habits, and the emotional toll that often comes with being overweight.

Credit: 3to1fitness/instagram

Key Takeaways

A South Carolina man lost an extraordinary 361+ pounds naturally, transforming his health and life.

After reaching his weight-loss goal, he is now seeking help to fund surgery to remove excess skin.

His GoFundMe has already raised more than $76,000 toward a $100,000 goal.

His story has resonated with people worldwide who face similar challenges.

But Cole refused to quit on himself. Instead of surgery or quick fixes, he chose patience and persistence. He started by walking. Just a little at first, then a bit more each day.

He changed what he ate, cutting out sugary drinks and snacks and replacing them with healthier choices. He began exercising. First slow, then with more intensity at the gym. He stayed disciplined. Step by step. Day by day.

With determination and hard work, Cole lost more than 361 pounds, shedding what he once described as the weight of “three men” off his body.

Today, he weighs about 226 pounds, a dramatic transformation that not only improved his physical health but also changed his life.

Yet even after achieving what many would call a miracle, Cole still faces a challenge most people don’t think about: excess skin.

When the body shrinks after major weight loss, the skin doesn’t always bounce back. It can hang loosely, fold over itself, and make everyday life harder than it should be. This is a reality for many who reduce significant weight.

For Cole, that leftover skin isn’t just cosmetic. It affects his comfort, his confidence, and his ability to fully enjoy the life he’s worked so hard to reclaim. He has said being “trapped” by the extra skin makes it hard to run and even affects what clothes he can wear comfortably.

Credit: 3to1fitness/instagram

So he took another courageous step.

In April 2024, Cole launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for multiple skin removal surgeries, a costly process that doctors estimated could require months of recovery and long stays in California after each procedure.

He was honest about his fears. He posted photos showing the excess skin he lives with every day. He shared his story openly, not just to ask for help but to show the world how far he’s come.

People responded.

Support poured in.

Strangers donated.

More than $76,000 has been raised toward his $100,000 goal, a figure that will help pay for the surgeries he needs.

Cole’s journey has struck a chord with many online. Followers cheer his progress. People message him about their own struggles. Others say his honesty has inspired them to start their own paths to better health.

His story isn’t just about weight loss. It’s about persistence. It’s about resilience. It’s about the reality that every part of change, physical and emotional, can be difficult. And it’s about facing every challenge, one step at a time.If stories like Cole’s, ones of determination, vulnerability, and transformation, move you, you’ll find many more like them at Simply Wholesome.
Credit: NHL

Hollywood star Will Ferrell brought extra fun and flair to a recent NHL game, but not in the way most fans expected. On January 1, 2026, the actor and long-time Los Angeles Kings supporter showed up at the Crypto.com Arena dressed from head to toe in NHL referee gear.

Key Takeaways

Will Ferrell showed up at a Los Angeles Kings hockey game dressed in full NHL referee gear and playfully “called penalties” from his seat.

He was attending the game between the Kings and the Tampa Bay Lightning at Crypto.com Arena on New Year’s Day.

Ferrell joked about being “nimble” and ready to step in if the real officials needed a break.

The actor stayed in character, joked about training the referees, and even tested a whistle between periods, much to the amusement (and mild concern) of fans.

This playful appearance continues Ferrell’s tradition of bringing humor and fan energy to Kings games.

Ferrell wasn’t officiating on the ice. He wasn’t holding a real whistle for the players. But from his seat near the glass during the Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning matchup, he made fans laugh and drew attention by playfully “calling penalties” on the arena video board, pointing at imaginary infractions and mimicking referee signals throughout the game.

The 58-year-old comedian explained his outfit in his signature humorous style during an interview with Kings reporter Carrlyn Bathe. Ferrell said he’s “always been in support of the NHL referees” and joked that he’d even trained the officials for the night, calling them his “prize students.”

In a playful twist, he also said he was ready to step onto the ice if needed. “You never know if one of these guys go down, I may have to put on the skates and get out there,” he quipped, despite admitting it had been many years since he last skated.

Ferrell’s referee costume wasn’t just for show. Between periods, he even gave a whistle a try, though the Kings organization reportedly asked him not to use it during actual play, something he took in good humor.

This isn’t the first time Ferrell has had fun with hockey culture. Last year he dressed as Buddy the Elf at a Kings game, and he’s been seen many times in the crowd with themed outfits, face paint, or spirited cheers that delight fans and media alike.

At the January 1 game, Ferrell’s presence added a lighthearted touch to the sport. His acting background in comedy and his genuine love of the Kings came together in a moment that fans described as funny, unexpected, and authentically spirited.

Whether you’re a die-hard hockey fan or just enjoy a bit of fun in the stands, Ferrell’s referee bit was a reminder that sports can be both competitive and joyful, and that sometimes a famous face in the crowd can make game night even more memorable. If stories like this, full of sports, smiles, and moments that make people laugh together, resonate with you, you’ll enjoy what we share at Simply Wholesome.
Credit: Rebekah Hagan’s Post/facebook

Some gifts are bought.

Some are made.

And some are built with pure love.

For two months, Rebekah Hagan quietly worked on a Christmas surprise for her dad, a handcrafted replica of the house from Up, one of his favorite movies. The project wasn’t rushed. Every detail was planned. Every piece had intention.

Key Takeaways

A handmade gift can carry deeper meaning than anything store-bought.

Thoughtful details can preserve family memories across generations.

Creativity, when encouraged, can become a powerful way to express love.

The most meaningful presents often tell a story, not just show effort.

Many of the items inside the miniature house were made by hand, carefully shaped to match the movie as closely as possible. This wasn’t about copying a scene. It was about recreating a feeling. The warmth. The nostalgia. The story behind it.

But one room carried a meaning far deeper than the rest.

Inside Carl’s study, Rebekah added tiny magnets. These weren’t random decorations. They were inspired by her grandfather’s refrigerator magnets, collected from every place he traveled around the world. Each magnet represented a journey. A memory. A life lived fully.

Her grandfather is no longer alive. But through this small, thoughtful detail, his presence was gently woven into the gift.

When her parents picked up the house, the reaction was immediate. Her dad was overjoyed. The kind of happiness that doesn’t need explaining. The kind that sits quietly in the heart.

This wasn’t just a model house. It was a family story told in miniature. A tribute to love, loss, and connection. Rebekah later shared her gratitude for her parents, who have always encouraged her creativity and imagination. This gift was a reflection of that support. Of being allowed to dream. To build. To create something meaningful without limits.

In a world full of rushed purchases and last-minute gifts, this one stood out. It took time. It took patience. And it carried love in every tiny detail.

Sometimes the most powerful gifts aren’t loud. They don’t need wrapping paper or a price tag. They live in quiet moments. And stay forever.

Cartier Carey, then an 11-year-old rising sixth grader, had witnessed families struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He noticed how many single parents ,especially moms, were having a hard time keeping up with essential needs. Diapers and wipes were often hard to afford for families already stretched thin by the economic and health challenges of the past year.

image

Key Takeaways

A sixth grader in Hampton, Virginia started a lemonade stand to help single moms in need after seeing people struggle during the pandemic.

The stand sold lemonade and snacks, and all proceeds were used to buy diapers and baby wipes for families facing hardship.

In just the first three days, the community helped raise about $3,000, and the total eventually surpassed $7,500.

The effort provided tens of thousands of diapers and wipes to hundreds of families through local shelters and organizations.

A GoFundMe campaign expanded the impact even further, helping parents nationwide.

Instead of waiting for someone else to help, Cartier decided to act. He set up a lemonade stand in front of his house one July, selling lemonade for $1 a glass and offering snacks alongside. But this wasn’t just any lemonade stand, every dollar he earned was used to buy diapers and baby wipes that would go directly to moms who needed them.

Cartier was not alone. His parents, four younger siblings and neighborhood kids joined him in the effort. Word spread quickly through the community, and support grew fast. In the first three days alone, Cartier and his helpers raised about $3,000.

As the stand continued to operate day after day, the total climbed even higher. More than $7,500 was raised from the project, enabling the purchase of nearly 28,000 diapers and wipes. These supplies were then made available, free of charge, to families in need through local shelters, churches and partner organizations.

Cartier explained his motivation simply: “Ever since I was little, I’ve seen a lot of people struggling.” Helping others felt like the right thing to do, and seeing the impact his lemonade stand had on real families gave him a deep sense of purpose.

His mom, Britany Stewart, said Cartier had always shown a strong desire to help others, even before the lemonade stand. At times, he would ask how they could give money or supplies to people living on the streets. The pandemic only intensified his empathy and determination.

image

Credit: kids4change757/Instagram

To expand the reach of the project, Stewart helped set up a GoFundMe campaign, which attracted donations from across the country and even internationally. Requests for diapers and wipes came in from all over, including places as far away as the Philippines.

For Cartier, the lesson was clear: if you see people in need, you can do something about it. His lemonade stand became more than a summer project, it became a mission to spread kindness and practical help.
